Clinical Apps for iPad and Tablet Use in Medicine and Clinical Trials
For those of you who have followed this blog for a while will recall we had a series in the use of tablets (iPads, androids, etc.) in medicine and clinical trials. It has been a while since I have provided any updates on clinical apps and so the time seemed appropriate.
We recently e received an email from Miranda Brown, who states "I write articles for www.becomeanxraytechnician.com," a website dedicated to providing students with the information and tools needed in order to pursue their dream to become an x-ray technician. This is an area that is "near and dear" to BioClinica, since we have an imaging core lab staffed with a highly talented group of technologists. The BioClinica team is highly regarded for their eye for detail, quality of work and ability to carefully review the images we receive from clinical trials.
Miranda recently wrote an article on clinical apps called "The 20 Must-Have iPad Apps for Radiologists and X-Ray Techs." In the same context, I regularly visit www.imedicalapps.com and they have lists such as "Top 20 Free Medical Apps for the iPhone" and "The Top 15 Free Medical apps for the Android," just to name a few. If you are interested in getting a stylus, they have also undertaken the review.
As I work in clinical trials, I decided to google the apps for "clinical trials." The only things I saw come back were system-wide deployment of tablets for the complete clinical trials program. While this is a great development, I was looking to see if there was anything specific in the clinical trial field for individual users. Since there does not appear to be anything specific, I wonder if as a community we would like to post the best clinical apps for work here and at least we could build up a database of useful applications that are perhaps more tailored to the clinical trials environment.
If you know of any clinical apps or medical apps for iPad and tablet use in clinical trials, please feel free to post them in the comments section below.
