Tablet Development and Use in Clinical Trials
The last couple of blogs I wrote on iPad tablet use in clinical trials have created a significant amount of interest. This is really the first system to come to market, and at the recent technology conference in Las Vegas, there were 46 other new systems that were launched or on display on several different operating systems, such as Microsoft, Android etc. While this makes the market very crowded, a couple of front-runners will emerge, which, at the moment, is headed by the iPad. But, Walter Mossberg (technology guru at the WSJ) stated last week that the Motorola XOOM tablet is "The first true competitor for the iPad".
Like new drugs first coming to market (in general), will the iPad maintain pole position or will it be superseded by another tablet in clinical trials?
Just to give an idea of how fast this space is changing, Stryker came up with an iPad app last week for orthopedic surgeons to use for patient and device information. There is also a website set up just for medical apps: www.imedicalapps.com.
The generic name for technology like the iPad is a tablet, so I guess we have tablets used for tablet development in clinical trials?
Please post any other links here for other websites showing tablet use in clinical trials or medical imaging use – it might be a useful reference for our community. I look forward to discovering new tablet app resources and sharing them here with you.
